What did you want to be when you were younger?

Answer: This is actually a funny answer! Growing up I was interested in so many things and my dream job would change up every week, honestly. I was always interested in beauty, film, and ect., though. As a child we are put in these boxes and told that we can really only be one thing. Go to college select a major and fulfill this career, but as I got older I started to realize our dreams are there for a reason and I do have the power to combine all my talents and interests to create my own path to success!

What do you want to do now?

Answer: I’m still interested in the same things, but my main focus right now is my graphic design company, @lanasgraphics, on Instagram. Lanas Graphics is affordable resources for young female entrepreneurs, and I’m in the works of putting together graphic design classes for black and brown girls in low income communities teaching them how to make money from this skill set. I’m also working on putting together pop up shops and events throughout the tri state area in order to give young entrepreneurs the space that they need to get their brand out there and network with each other.

What were your top 5 colleges?

Answer: I am actually completing my associates online as a business administration major. I’d like to complete my scholastic career as an international business or along the lines of a communications/marketing major. The colleges that are aligned with my goals right now are FIT, Baruch College, or Syracuse University.

What’s your college major?

Answer : My major is Business administration and it took me a while to come to that conclusion just because my current college offers business management and digital marketing as well, but I had to make a sole decision with my parents of course to see what major aligned most with my goals. The Business administration major offers finance, marketing, and business economics which is the groundwork needed to make sure that any business route that I make is successful in the long run.

Where do you want to live when you’re older?

Answer: New York City is ultimately my home! I love it here and it’s one of the best places to network in the business field. Of course, I’d love to travel and one of my favorite places is Puerto Rico. I’d love to see L.A, and Atlanta is super nice. But again, I rep NYC all day and I plan to fulfill my career here.

What’s one thing you can’t live without?

Answer : My answer is going to be so superficial, lol, but I swear it’s deeper than that. One thing I can’t live without is my phone. This is how I keep in contact with my customers, run my business, and brainstorm my next moves.

How did you make your business?

Answer: Honestly Lanas Graphics found me! My mom came to me one day and asked if I could make her flyer; I did my research and got to work. Before this point I never took a graphic design class, but once I finished the flyer I was actually proud of myself. I then started making more and playing around with colors and textures; it just came naturally. I didn’t tell anyone what I was doing until I felt my work was a good representation of me. I worked with several influencers and made a small name for myself in the young female community. The rest is history, and I now have a loyal clientele who encourages me to be authentic with my brand.

Where do you find opportunities to learn?

Answer: First and foremost, please don’t go into any situation looking for all the answers. This won’t work because business is based on originality. A wise woman once told me, “people aren’t buying your product they are buying you.” All learning should only be used to add onto your original ideas. With that all being said, the same way I provide affordable resources is the same way that I look for affordable resources. I look through my school's website, Eventbrite, and Youtube. You can find webinars and online courses. Take notes, listen, and apply what resonates.

What’s your advice to any girl boss?

Answer: To all my girl bosses, make sure you LUV what you are doing! When something is your passion you should wake up and be willing to stand for your dreams. Also, spend time with yourself. See where your dreams take you because anything is possible. I started off with graphic design and now I’m taking my brand to new heights because I allow myself the space to be creative and original, and that’s honestly what it comes down to. And hard work of course!

What does your future look like? Family, Wealth, Etc.?

Answer: Listen, I can’t predict the future; if you told me just two years ago that I would be doing what I’m doing now I’m not sure I’d believe it. I know that I am in the works of learning how to invest, and by the age of 21 I’d like to be financially stable with my own car and condo. I’m working towards that and hopefully what I’m doing now with Lanas Graphics and my other business ventures is the push to get me there. At the end of the day I can only stay true to me and be as transparent as possible. I believe that will take me far and if it’s in my heart, then it’s meant for me!

Anything else you’d like us to know?

Answer: I want you guys to know that I am super thankful for this opportunity! I hope what I said helps at least one person out there because that’s what I’m all about. I want everyone to secure the bag because there is so much money in this world. I love this magazine and how it allows teens a space to grow in their passion. I hope to do more projects with you guys.
